The Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association was born in 2002 by popular vote of the people in Gunnison County. The ballot issue was to create a Local Marketing District for the purpose of marketing the destination as a whole. The vote allowed an increase in the Lodging tax from 1.9% to 4%. Since its founding, the Tourism Association has been responsible for marketing the Gunnison Valley as a year-round vacation destination.
Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association Mission
The purpose of the Tourism Association is to implement an integrated marketing effort which promotes the Gunnison Valley as a year-round destination and enhances the visitor experience. Increasing total annual tourism/guest revenue is a primary goal of the Tourism Association, with an emphasis on overnight visitation.
We’re a team of people who love the Gunnison Valley and sharing it with the world. We tell the story of the experience of the Gunnison Valley through video, photography, and the written word.
We have a 7 member board and a 4 member staff of Gunnison Valley enthusiasts. We work very closely with the Chambers of Commerce in Crested Butte and Gunnison. They run the 4 Visitor Information Centers in the Valley and serve as a critical conduit between us and our local businesses.
